It was at the top of the year that HMD Global offered the world a look at the Nokia 6. Since that time, the firm has also debuted its other Android offerings with the Nokia 5 and Nokia 3. While it seems fairly easy for a well-established company to dish out Android phones, what seems to be more difficult for a majority of companies is how well they can keep their Android devices updated. This lack of support has become more apparent in the recent years with firms struggling to update their handsets with the latest version of Android and Google"s security update.
Apparently, HMD Global will not succumb to this issue as they have released their first update for the Nokia 6 that updates the OS to version Android 7.1.1.
While it isn"t the latest version of Android, it is still quite ahead of a lot of manufacturers who are still stuck on Android 7.0. In addition to the OS update, the update apparently packs the latest security update from Google which was issued in April. While this is encouraging to see, it will be interesting to see if HMD Global can continue to manage updates to its handset in a timely manner.
