While OnePlus is riding the high of the OnePlus 5T and OnePlus 6, there are still those that remember the darker times of being a supporter of the company during its early stages. Despite cries from customers, the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X are two handsets that never received the promised updates. While they may have been forgotten by OnePlus, it looks like the community is breathing new life into them, as both devices now have the option of updating to Android 9.0 Pie.

Per usual, the community at XDA Developers is hard at work, making sure that no device is left behind. If you care to take a leap of faith, you can download the build of Android 9.0 Pie for the OnePlus X. But be warned, things aren"t quite perfect as of yet, with the following problems being reported:

  • Camera HDR
  • USB MTP
  • Notification Slider
  • Off screen gestures

As for the OnePlus 2, a majority of the OS seems to be working properly, but there are still minor bugs, mostly being visual problems. If you are curious, you can download the update, and see for yourself.

Remember, the parties involved aren"t responsible if your device decides to malfunction during or after the update process, so proceed with caution. As always, be sure to backup all of your important personal information before loading these new ROMs.
