It looks like OnePlus is planning on launching its OnePlus 8 series in the second week of April. A new report from TechRadar citing a "source close to the company" claims that the global announcement of the device is scheduled in the second week of April. A previous rumor claimed a late March or early April launch for the OnePlus 8 series. A slight delay in the launch of the device is possible due to the coronavirus outbreak. Despite that though, this launch will be earlier than usual for OnePlus which tends to release a new phone in late April or early May.
This time around OnePlus is expected to launch a "lite" model alongside the OnePlus 8 and the OnePlus 8 Pro. The OnePlus 8 Lite and the OnePlus 8 Pro have already leaked in renders and hands-on photos. The company itself has already confirmed that the OnePlus 8 series will pack a 120Hz AMOLED display and users will have the option to switch between 60Hz/90Hz/120Hz refresh rate depending on their preference. The device is also expected to be available on Verizon"s 5G network this time around.
The OnePlus 8 Lite will possibly be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1000 chip, while the OnePlus 8 Pro will pack a Snapdragon 865 chip. There is a possibility of OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro coming with bigger batteries and faster charging speeds than their predecessor. The devices could also come with wireless charging and an official IP rating. These improvements, however, could possibly lead to an increase in their prices.
