It was at the top of the month that Razer announced its first smartphone. While it would make plans to sell the device on its own website, the firm also forged partnerships in the United States with Amazon and also the Microsoft Store. Now, those in the U.S. will be available to head to the Microsoft website and purchase the handset for $699.99.
If you missed the announcement, the Razer Phone offers quite an impressive set of specifications, spearheaded by its 120Hz display.
The smartphone offers:
- 5.7-inch QHD 120Hz display with Ultramotion and a wide color gamut made by Sharp
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 835
- 8GB RAM
- 64GB storage with microSD expandability
- 12MP camera wide angle, 12MP camera telephoto, 8MP front-facing camera
- Dual front-facing speakers with Dolby Atmos and THX certification
- 4,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 4+
- Fingerprint reader embedded into the power button
- Android 7.1.1 with Oreo update in Q1 2018 with Nova Launcher
- 158 x 78 x 8mm, weighing in at 197g
From its specifications alone, this thing is a beast and easily matches some of the best handsets from the likes of Samsung, LG, and HTC. But, like any newcomer, there is always some form of doubt, as the company is untested in this field so it will be interesting to see how the company fares with its first foray into the smartphone market.
