The Sims 2 goes gold

The much-anticipated update of EA"s virtual-existence franchise is heading off to the actual factory.

After years of dominating the PC sales charts, the Sims is now set to enter a new era. Electronic Arts confirmed to GameSpot today that the Sims 2, the much-anticipated follow-up to the best-selling PC series, has gone gold. Rated "T" for Teen, the game will cost $49.99 when it goes on sale September 14.
