The Surface Go with Advanced LTE starts at $679, and you can pre-order now

Microsoft"s Surface Go is meant to be taken, well, on the go. In fact, that"s what the firm implied when it announced the tablet back in July and released it in August. But while a variant with 4G LTE was promised at the time, we haven"t seen it, until now. Today, Microsoft announced the Surface Go with Advanced LTE, and you can pre-order it right now.

It comes in three flavors, only one of which is a consumer SKU. That includes 8GB RAM and a 128GB SSD, and it will run you $679. Just like the rest of the Surface Go consumer models, it will come with Windows 10 Home in S mode.

The other two are Surface Go for Business SKUs, which ship with Windows 10 Pro and can be configured for S mode. The same variant as the consumer model will cost $729, due to the upgrade in operating system, and as I noted there would be on Twitter a couple of months ago, there"s a model with 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD, which will run you $829.

You might recall that a 256GB SSD was on the original spec sheet, even though a version with 256GB was never introduced. Microsoft has confirmed to Neowin that at this time, the 256GB SSD is only available in the business LTE model, and there isn"t a Wi-Fi only model. Don"t be surprised if it shows up at some point though.

The LTE-enabled tablet supports 22 cellular bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 38, 39, 40, 41, 66. It also has GPS, and a nano-SIM slot; the company made no mention of an e-SIM. It uses the same Snapdragon X16 modem as the Surface Pro. While the modem supports gigabit speeds, the Surface Go is capped at 450Mbps, just like the Pro.

The Surface Go with LTE Advanced will be available in the U.S. and Canada on November 20, and in 21 more markets on November 22. Microsoft says that more markets will be added in the coming months.
