The Surface Laptop with a 1TB SSD is now available

A month ago, Microsoft quietly opened up pre-orders for a variant of the Surface Laptop with a Core i7, Iris Plus 640 graphics, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. Today, those models of the Windows 10 S PC are shipping, and you can buy one right now.

Unfortunately, while the company is finally selling the Surface Laptop with a Core i7 in all four colors, that"s not the case for this one. The 1TB variant only comes in Platinum, at least for the time being. It wouldn"t be surprising if Microsoft releases other colors moving forward.

The Laptop ships with Windows 10 S, meaning that you can only use apps that are downloaded from the Store. You can get a free upgrade to Windows 10 Pro though, and Microsoft recently extended that offer until March.

And one of the benefits of the Core i7 model is that it comes with Intel"s Iris Plus 640 graphics, rather than the HD Graphics 620 that you"ll find paired with the Core i5. Not many ultrabooks include the variant of the chip that comes with Iris Plus, so it"s worth noting.

If you want to check out the Surface Laptop, you can find it here, and the new model is priced at $2,699.
