One of the greatest TV shows of all time is getting the game adaptation treatment. Publisher Legacy Interactive announced today that it will release a game for the PC and Mac based on The Twilight Zone, the classic sci-fi/fantasy anthology TV series created by the late Rod Serling. The game is currently due for release in the first quarter of 2012.
The original series ran from 1959 to 1964 in CBS and gave TV viewers some of the greatest episodes of all time such as Eye of the Beholder, It"s a Good Life and To Serve Man. There have been a number of short lived TV revivals and in 1983 a feature film version was released. Legacy Interactive"s game version will be an original story about an actor who finds himself stuck as a character in multiple episodes of an unnamed TV show.
The press release adds, "Players will encounter adventure style quests in which they set in motion key events through their actions within the game. In addition, as they find bits of the script in hidden object scenes across all the episodes, they learn more about the bizarre circumstances of their never-ending acting gig."
There"s no word if the game will feature any mentions of any of the classic Twilight Zone episodes or show any of the classic creatures that have popped up during the original series run. We personally hope that the Gremlin from Nightmare at 20,000 feet appears at some point to terrorize the actor.
