AMC’s zombietastic drama series, The Walking Dead, has been a huge hit, breaking ratings records for cable TV, and amassing endless praise from critics and viewers alike. Based on the comic series of the same name, the show reaches the finale of its second season this weekend, and although a third season has already been given the go-ahead, it’s not expected to begin until October.
That’s a long time to wait until your next fix – but if you’re a fan of the show, the network that brought us Mad Men and Breaking Bad has something in the works to keep you going until the season 3 première later this year. AMC this week confirmed its collaboration with developers Eyes Wide Games on ‘The Walking Dead Social Game’, a free-to-play title that will soon be making its way to Facebook.
According to the game’s official Facebook page, players will get to “complete missions, meet characters from the show, and recruit your Facebook friends to defend your camp from Walkers. If your friends get killed, look out, they may return as Walkers.”
The game will be largely based on the narrative established by the television series, which deviates in numerous ways from the story that unfolds in the comic book series. Some of the missions in the game will be familiar to viewers of the show, but there’ll also be entirely new missions, scenarios and set-pieces designed exclusively for the game.
The game launches in April, and you can sign up for updates before then via Facebook.
