The Windows 10 Photos app is reportedly getting Xbox Game DVR integration

Microsoft is going to be adding Xbox Game DVR integration into the Photos app on Windows 10, according to a new report from Windows Central"s Jez Corden. Rather than using the Upload Studio, you"ll be able to edit and upload clips directly from Photos.

When you record a clip or take a screenshot on the Xbox One console, you"re given an option to upload to OneDrive, and if you use that, those files should show up in Photos. This is different, as they would be imported directly from Xbox Live.

But most people end up stuck downloading their clips and screenshots from the Xbox app or a website. This is aiming at making life a little bit easier for those users. After all, the technology is pretty much in place for a change like this, so it makes sense to organize a users game clips into one place.

The report also points out that Upload Studio doesn"t support 4K clips, something that you"ll need if you"ve got an Xbox One X running at 4K. The Photos app does, of course, so you"ll be able to edit those clips in all of their glory.

It"s unclear when the new feature will arrive, or if it will require a feature update for the Xbox One family of consoles. Xbox doesn"t wait six months in between feature updates like Windows 10 does though; the console gets updated with new features as often as once a month. We"ll likely find out more soon.
