Following a six-year break, Bandai Namco"s popular fighting game series, SoulCalibur, is finally slated to return this year with SoulCalibur VI. Today, the publisher announced that the game will bring along Geralt of Rivia as a playable guest fighter from CD Projekt Red"s immensely popular RPG series, The Witcher. The arrival was teased by the official Twitter account of The Witcher yesterday.
Geralt will reportedly stick to his roots in the fighting game, letting players have a crack at using his "signature fighting style with a combination of swordplay, ability-enhancing potions, and combat magic." CD Projekt Red has also collaborated with Bandai Namco to bring over the monster slayer, sharing "Witcher 3 assets like Geralt’s model, animations, and weapons."
SoulCalibur producer Motohiro Okubo said regarding the crossover:
“All SOULCALIBUR characters have strong convictions and complex backgrounds and this is why it is a great honor for the whole SOULCALIBUR team to welcome Geralt as the guest character in SOULCALIBUR VI. Thanks to the great cooperation with CD PROJEKT RED, we’ve been able to fully integrate Geralt’s fighting style and appearance."
In addition to Geralt, The Witcher 3"s "Hunt or be Hunted" music track, as well as a fighting stage based on Kaer Morhen will also be available in SoulCalibur VI.
SoulCalibur VI doesn"t have a release date attached to it as of yet, but it is coming sometime this year to PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
