There's a $29.99 Windows 8 upgrade for Black Friday 2012 ... sort of

Would you like to get the boxed version of Windows 8 Pro for just $29.99? That"s what one retailer in the US is claiming it will have for people who show up in its US stores for "Black Friday 2012". That"s scheduled for November 23rd this year, the day after the US Thanksgiving holiday, and traditionally its the time where big retailers cut prices drastically on a number of items to jump start the holiday season.

In this case, the BFads.net site has posted up the scan of the Black Friday newspaper ad for Office Max, which says that it will sell the boxed version of Windows 8 Pro and the Windows 8 Pro Pack for a mere $29.99. Technically, that"s even less money than the $39.99 downloadable upgrade for Windows 8 and a lot less than the normal $69.99 price for the boxed copy.

So, you might be thinking to yourself, "Is this too good to be true?". The answer is, "Kinda." The actual price for the Windows 8 Pro upgrade is $59.99 at Office Max on Black Friday (still $10 less than its normal boxed price). However, the big $30 price reduction comes in the form of Office Max "MaxPerks Bonus Rewards" which basically gives you an $30 credit that can only be used in Office Max stores. So unless you shop a lot at Office Max this deal might not be for you.

As Black Friday 2012 gets closer, we will post up some more information about special Windows 8 related deals from various retailers. Stay tuned.
