Thermal overheat continued - Toms Hardware responds

Cheers me mate Mark (aka me101) In the interests of responsible journalism, the gang over at Tom"s Hardware has developed this article in the interests of setting the record straight about their original AMD burn-out video, and the new release (possibly from AMD) of this past week. It would seem that BOTH videos are correct, and that the question of whether or not somebody is hiding something depends entirely upon your own point of view."

Blurb from the review at Tomshardware: "A few weeks ago, we wrote an article titled Hot Spot: How Modern Processors Cope With Heat Emergencies. This was accompanied by a THG video that clearly showed that AMD processors with a Palomino core are not sufficiently protected from overheating.

As a consequence, there has been intense discussion between Tom"s Hardware, AMD and Fujitsu-Siemens in the past two weeks. To recap the situation: when used with the Fujitsu-Siemens D1289 motherboard, for which the AMD Palomino core had originally been specified, the Athlon XP/MP does not receive sufficient protection from overloads."
