These are the minimum specs for upcoming Windows 10 Mobile phones

The lowest of the low!

Microsoft has published the minimum requirements for Windows 10 Mobile, giving users a glimpse of what the company has planned for its, and its partners", future handsets.

The minimum requirements are the baseline components and features that can be used to build a Windows phone and on which Windows 10 Mobile has been optimized to run. Unfortunately, the list that was published doesn’t contain many surprises.

Perhaps the most surprising thing is that Windows 10 Mobile seems to have lower requirements than Windows Phone 8.1. This clearly shows that despite Microsoft wanting to launch high-end and business phones, the company is also hopeful it will have an impact at the low-end of the market.

The lowest-end Windows 10 Mobile handset will feature a touchscreen with WVGA (800 x 480) resolution, 512 MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, a VGA camera (640 x 480), no front-facing camera, no accelerometer, no Bluetooth support and it will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 210.

Now, hopefully, nobody will ever need to deal with such as device, but the lowering of minimum specs from Windows Phone, which require a 2Mpx camera, Bluetooth and an accelerometer is very curious. It’s likely an artifact of having Windows 10 run on so many devices.

That being said, we know most of you are interested in the very high-end specs that will hopefully be featured in Microsoft’s upcoming flagships. Unfortunately, we still have to wait a couple more months before those become public.
