There has been a lot of news from IFA 2018 in Berlin today, but it looks like Xiaomi wasn"t content with letting Honor hold the spotlight for too long with its surprise announcement of the Magic 2. Today, Lin Bin, who is the Chairman and CEO of Xiaomi, took to Weibo to show off the Mi MIX 3 in full.
The Mi MIX 3 has appeared in prior leaks, but this is the first time we are getting a clear look at the handset. As you can see, the front of the smartphone is all display, with a tiny bit of bezel along the bottom edge. Now, having a near bezel-less look is awesome, but it does require a company to relocate some of the necessary parts that usually reside on the front of the phone.
While some companies have chosen to utilize pop-up mechanisms, it looks like Xiaomi will be introducing a slider design its Mi MIX line. In the image provided, we can see the back half of the phone is slid up, with the front-facing camera and other sensors peeking out. It unclear when this device will arrive and while there have been reports that it could arrive as soon as September 15, Lin seems to be hoping to get it to market by October.
