This is why Windows 10 Mobile Insider preview builds get delayed

Today, we covered the possibility of a new Windows 10 Mobile build that would possibly be arriving some time later this week. Now Microsoft"s Gabe Aul has authored a post that attempts to clear the air on why Windows 10 Mobile builds have been delayed for Windows Insiders.

While Microsoft does its best to push these newer builds to Insiders, sometimes there are complications, Aul writes. When a new build is created, it doesn"t immediately get pushed to fast ring users, but instead gets tested internally until it meets expectations. Naturally, if the team finds something wrong, they fix it and start the testing process all over again.

The build doesn"t leave the internal testing process until it is deemed functional without major issues. Although fast ring users expect buggy builds, Aul explains that even for fast ring users, there are standards that Microsoft imposes. A build cannot be released if it threatens the basic user experience of an Insider. This means that an Insider must be able to perform daily activities on their phones.

mobile hotspot functionality now works, Quiet Hours\Do Not Disturb has been fixed, pinch and zoom in the Maps app now works as expected and the delay in showing the date and time on the Lock screen has been improved

Although a date is still unknown, the good news is that Aul and his team have successfully fixed some of the issues that have plagued previous builds. The fixes are listed verbatim above. With the process detailed, hopefully Insiders can understand why it takes so long to push out a build and understand the delay is for the good of the community.
