This road in American Truck Simulator will play music when driving on it, like in real life

Serious simulator game developers always strive for more realism in their games, and the studio behind Euro Truck Simulator series and American Truck Simulator, SCS Software, is no different. The developer even closed a stretch of road on American Truck Simulator"s California coastal Highway 1 recently to mirror a real-life landslide that had covered the road.

Now, the developer is implementing a new feature to American Truck Simulator"s upcoming New Mexico map expansion DLC: a musical road. Musical roads are essentially rumble strips that play a melody when being driven upon at a certain speed. They can be found in real-life locations around the world, in countries like Japan, Denmark, South Korea, and in the US.

The road in question that is being put into American Truck Simulator is on Route 66, between Albuquerque and Tijeras. Players will hear the melody of America the Beautiful when driving on this stretch of road at 45mph. The developer released a video showcasing the spectacle in prototype form, seen above.

Although there is no word yet on when the New Mexico map expansion DLC will arrive for American Truck Simulator, we will at least have a tune to keep us company on long hauls when it does come out.
