THQ Nordic just released a new trailer for a brand new game which will be playable at this year"s gamescom. The game is based on the original point-and-click adventure titles which launched in 2003 and is a re-imagining of sorts, bringing the narrative into the modern era.
Black Mirror follows David Gordon, returning to his ancestral home in the Scottish Highlands after the sudden suicide of his father. When arriving, you find that the untimely death of your estranged relative is anything but seemly. As you continue on digging into the life of your father, you edge closer to following in his footsteps; uncovering the possibility of a curse hanging over your family, buried underneath generations of silence.
The original games followed a similar plot, with Samuel Gordon returning to his ancestral home in England after the death of his father, and it remains to be seen how these two storylines converge. The gameplay and story will take a lot of inspirations from writers such as H.P Lovecraft and Edgar Allen Poe, which continues a sudden surge in new games that take inspiration from the former. Other recent projects include Moons of Madness which we reported on earlier, and a game by Focus Home Interactive simply named Call of Cthulhu. Black Mirror will also include so-called "high quality" voice acting, according to the developer.
The game is expected to launch on November 28 on Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4, and more gameplay will be shown off at this year"s gamescom.
