TikTok partners up with CSL to create esports tournament called the TikTok Cup

American esports league Collegiate StarLeague (CSL) has announced the inception of a new esports competition called the TikTok Cup. Created in partnership with Chinese social media app TikTok, the event has a combined prize pool of $60,000.

The TikTok Cup will feature a series of team-based tournaments for four different games and prizes will vary depending on the title. It must be noted that the competition is only open to students who are currently enrolled at any U.S. college or university.

The games featured in the TikTok Cup are Fortnite, League of Legends, Rocket League, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Those interested in signing up will be happy to know that registrations for the first tournament have already opened up. Aside from the esports cup, ByteDance"s social media platform is also holding an in-app "video contest" related to the TikTok Cup. Participants have to make a video related to gaming and share it on TikTok. In order to be eligible for the competition, CSL must be tagged along with the hashtag "TikTokCupContest".

As for the prize, the winner of the TikTok Cup video contest will be awarded $2500. The TikTok challenge will go live at 12:00 am ET on April 28, 2020. Further details about the competition such as the rules and regulations can be found here.
