A video has been uploaded to the Microsoft Youtube channel showing a time lapse of the original Microsoft campus going up. Remember that it was recorded decades ago so don"t expect high definition scenes; it is however an important milestone in Microsofts relatively long history, you can view the video below.
Located at One Microsoft Way in Redmond, Washington. Microsoft initially moved onto the grounds of the campus on February 26, 1986. The headquarters has since experienced multiple expansions since its establishment. According to Wikipedia the campus now encompasses 8 million ft2 (750,000 m2) of office space and 30,000-40,000 employees.
The video compliments the 88 Acres: How Microsoft Quietly Built the City of the Future article posted over on Microsoft, that started from a desire to enhance and unify building management solutions across Microsoft"s Redmond campus. The long but enjoyable article details how the project started and quickly evolved into what the company calls a revolutionary product.
As we reported yesterday, Microsoft believes that their solution is highly scalable and comes with low up-front costs and as such it"s a perfect product that they intend to bring to market soon. According to them they now have some select clients that are interested in this system including the Pentagon and a number of real estate and Fortune 500 companies.
