Deep Silver is reviving TimeSplitters, the cult-classic first-person shooter series for consoles from the early 2000s. Alongside the game, the original studio behind the time-traveling endeavor, Free Radical Design, is being reformed by the publisher, with founders Steve Ellis and David Doak returning to helm the project.
The trilogy began in 2000 and ended with TimeSplitters: Future Perfect in 2005. Although rumors circulated of a fourth entry a while back, this never came to pass officially. Today"s announcement did not have any details regarding where the new game is headed, and unfortunately for fans, they may be waiting a while for this information. The newly revived studio is still in the building studio phase in the Nottingham area, and development will begin "in the coming months."
"To finally confirm that the studio has been founded and that we have a plan for the next TimeSplitters game is amazing," Free Radical Design studio development director Steve Ellis says in a press release. "While we can"t reveal more right now, we look forward to sharing more information in the future.

If you"re wondering how Deep Silver has come in to back the revival, Koch Media, the Deep Silver parent, picked up the IP rights for Free Radical Design developed classics TimeSplitters and Second Sight in 2018. Even back then, the publisher shared its intentions of making new entries to the beloved series, so these latest developments aren"t much of a surprise.
