Tinder begins rollout of new Blind Date feature which boosts matches by 40%

Tinder has announced that it’s rolling out a new feature in the Explore area of the app called Blind Date. Tinder users will answer a short series of multiple-choice answers while a timer ticks down, if the user likes the answers they’re receiving, they can Like the other person’s profile and if both parties hit like then there’s a match, after which, they can view each other"s Tinder profile.

Commenting on the Blind Date feature, Kyle Miller, VP of Product Innovation at Tinder, said:

“We’ve all seen the mix of anticipation and excitement going on a blind date brought some of our favorite movie or TV characters, and we wanted to recreate that experience for today’s generation with the Blind Date feature. There"s something really special about letting conversation introduce someone’s personality, without the preconceptions that can be made from photos. The new Blind Date experience brings a surprisingly fun, banter-based way to interact and create connections that’s all new to Tinder.”

According to the firm, early testing among some users found that by using Blind Date, users could increase their matches by more than 40%. This is because Blind Date takes you straight past the whole swiping business and gets you stuck into a conversation where some people may do better at sparking the interest of the other person.

The company said that Blind Date is now available for those based in the United States. It will begin the global rollout in the coming weeks.
