A senior Microsoft employee has compared Apple"s iPhone 4 device to Microsoft"s own Windows Vista disaster.
The first operating system for Microsoft since Windows XP, Windows Vista came under scrutiny for a myriad of issues, and contentiously has been labelled as being the worst operating system to come out of Redmond yet. The general consensus these days is that Vista was rushed out too quickly, and that the newly-launched Windows 7 is what Vista should have been.
During his keynote speech at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner"s Conference (WPC) in Washington D.C., Microsoft"s chief operating officer, Kevin Turner, dropped a couple of comments in which he compared the flawed Vista to Apple"s most recent darling, the iPhone 4, which has recently been scrutinised for having reception woes.
"It looks like the iPhone 4 might be their Vista, and I"m okay with that," he said, later referring to the reception problems plaguing the device.
"One of the things I want to make sure you know today is that you"re going to be able to use a Windows Phone 7 and not have to worry about how you"re holding it to make a phone call."
Apple is still refusing to confirm there"s an issue with the iPhone 4 hardware, although unconfirmed reports claim they could have already made a slight adjustment to fix the problem on newer iPhone 4 units. Instead, Apple insists it"s a software issue - and a beta of the newest iOS update went live today for developers, which Apple says will assist in fixing an issue with their reception bar calculation that at times showed users they had up to two more bars of reception than were really available. Early results however appear to be showing no change.
