Toshiba changes its name to Dynabook in America

Toshiba"s PC business hasn"t been the most successful as of late, but it"s still kicking following its acquisition by Sharp. Earlier this year, the parent company rebranded itself to Dynabook, which has traditionally been one of its sub-brands for laptops, and now, its American division is doing the same. The change was announced today, and it"s effective immediately.

Despite the change of name, the company claims it"s the same company that"s been delivering innovations in computing since 1985, and promises to keep doing so going forward. Takayuki Tono, senior vice president for Dynabook Americas, said: "We will continue to reinvent mobility, expand our IoT and AR Smart Glasses portfolios, and deliver world-class support to help improve our customers’ ability to work smarter and accomplish more."

The name change is only meant to align with the naming scheme used by its parent company, and we can expect the same to happen across other regions, including Europe, Australia, Canada, and Singapore.

Under its new branding, Dynabook has also announced a new laptop today, the Tecra A50-EC. As most of the company"s laptops, it"s aimed at businesses and it features a wide array of ports, including three USB Type-A ports, Ethernet, HDMI, VGA, and SD card reader, and a USB Type-C connector. It also features an optional Windows Hello camera, a spill-resistant backlit keyboard and more. You"ll be able to order it from the company"s website.
