Track 8: a Metro music app for iPad

Love your iPad? Love Microsoft"s Metro design language? Well, you"re in luck, because we"ve got just the app for you: Ender Labs" new Track 8, a Metro inspired music player for iPad.

Judging by the screenshots, Track 8 has some pretty impressive eye candy, and it looks like it came right out of Windows 8 (which shouldn"t come as a surprise, considering the title – we"re assuming that it"s a pun on Windows 8 and the ill-fated 8 Track), and it definitely looks a heck of a lot more intuitive than the iPad"s default music player.

Although we haven"t had a chance to check it out for ourselves yet, Beautiful Pixels has a pretty thorough review. Despite a few shortcomings, like the inability to create playlists within the app, they call it a "must buy" for fans of the Metro interface. “This app is proof,” the review concludes, “that Metro UI looks great on a tablet.”

Track 8 is available now on the App Store for the paltry sum of $1.99, and if you"re looking for an alternative music player to relieve you of the default app, Track 8 looks like a pretty good choice. We"re also real curious-like to see how Microsoft feels about apps like this.
