A German court has set aside three days in July to try the teenager that was accused of creating the Sasser worm. 19-year-old Sven Jaschan faces numerous charges including computer sabotage and disruption of business. The trial is slated for July 5 and will be held behind closed doors because Jaschan was a minor at the time of the alleged crime, says the to court in Verden.
Authorities have stated that Jaschan has confessed to creating and releasing both the Sasser worm and several variants of the Netsky virus. Jaschan, a resident in the town of Waffensen, Germany, was arrested in May last year after Microsoft officials received a tip from an informant seeking a reward. The Sasser worm and its six known variants began spreading in May last year and had compromised hundreds of thousands of computers running the Windows operating system.
