Frozenbyte officially unveiled the fourth entry in the main Trine series, The Nightmare Prince, back in March this year, and now, the release date has finally been confirmed to be October 8. See the new gameplay trailer above, showcasing many of the features being introduced to the series with Trine 4.
As previously announced, this entry will take the series back to a 2.5D gameplay setting, dropping the 3D perspective seen in Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power following the mixed response. Also, for the first time, up to four players will be able to play the game in co-op (online and local), though it looks like there are still only three distinct heroes.
Separately, the publisher Modus is launching the Trine: Ultimate Collection on October 8 also, housing all four Trine games from the main series - this is including the upcoming latest entry. Those who pre-order either Trine 4 or the Ultimate Collection will receive an additional in-game level named Toby"s Dream as well. This will follow a separate adventure of the dog Toby that"s seen in the spin-off Nine Parchments.
Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince as well as Trine: Ultimate Collection is headed to PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
