Twitch is rolling out a new feature that will make it easier for streamers to play licensed soundtracks during their stream without running into copyrights issues. Soundtrack is available in beta starting today and it offers a curated collection of rights-cleared music for use in streams.
The service"s audio library includes songs from new and independent artists including Above & Beyond, mxmtoon, Porter Robinson, RAC, and SwuM, among others. In addition, participating labels including SoundCloud, Chillhop, DistroKid, Future Classic, Monstercat, Nuclear Blast, Alpha Pup, Anjunabeats, and more.
Rights-cleared soundtracks are available for listening worldwide. To avoid copyright infringement, Soundtrack incorporates these songs into the streamer"s streaming platform and separates them into their own audio channel. Twitch"s staff are curating the playlists and stations in collaboration with streamers and industry partners. Playlists vary from electronic and dance soundtracks to lo-fi beats.
Twitch says it will expand its curated collection of songs on a regular basis. The feature"s beta version works with OBS Studio v26.0 or later on PCs, with support for Twitch Studio & Streamlabs OBS set for release in the future. The streaming service also vows to bring Soundtrack to more creators in the next few weeks.
The Amazon-owned streaming platform is not the first to launch this feature, though. Earlier this month, Facebook Gaming partnered with music labels and publishers to allow its top streamers to use their library of songs while live-streaming games.
