Twitter adds "Lights out" option on iOS to make its night mode even darker

Twitter officially introduced the night mode feature to its Android app in 2016 to help minimize eye strain for users and save some battery juice. However, it wasn"t exactly a dark mode that would give you a true black, but instead a blue-gray theme only.

Today, the micro-blogging site has finally rolled out a darker shade of its night mode via a new option on its iOS app. To activate the true black night mode, go to the settings menu and then tap "Settings and privacy." On the general section, choose "Display and sound" and toggle the dark mode option, if you haven"t already. Finally, tap "Lights out" and your Twitter background will turn completely dark.

The new option is especially beneficial to devices with OLED screens as it helps save battery life by turning off the pixels in the black areas of the screen. At the moment, the feature does not seem to be available on Android and there"s no word on when it will go live on Google"s mobile operating system.
