Twitter announces group Direct Messaging and a video recording option

Twitter is evolving its platform once more by adding group Direct Messaging and a new camera option that will allow users to capture, edit and share videos directly within the app.

Although millions of users have relied on Instagram and Vine for its video sharing needs, it looks like Twitter is bringing video recording natively to the app experience. Once the update has been downloaded, the camera feature will now allow you to record, edit and post videos up to 30 seconds in length.

Similar to Instagram and Vine, you will have the option to shoot one 30 second clip or multiple smaller clips equaling a total time of 30 seconds. Once you have edited the clip or clips to your liking, you will be able to post the videos from within the Twitter application for all to see.

Group messaging will bring a new dynamic to Direct Messages. Rather than only being able to DM one person at a time, you will able to include up to 10 people in a private conversation. The best part of the group DM is that those involved in the chat, won"t need to be following each other. Naturally, this update will hit iPhone and Android user in the next couple of days; there was no mention of a Windows Phone update.
