Twitter has announced that Tips are rolling out to users on Android. It comes after the company said people would be able to tip creators using the popular cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, among other payment methods. To begin receiving tips, you’ll have to open the app on Android, press Edit profile then tap the Tips button to set things up.
According to the company’s previous announcement, the tipping feature works with a number of payment services and platforms including Bandcamp, Cash App, Chipper, Patreon, Razorpay, Wealthsimple Cash, Venmo, GoFundMe, PicPay, and Strike – a service for tipping in Bitcoin. Depending on where you are in the world will limit which services you can use, for example, Strike is only available in the United States and El Salvador.

You can get set up to receive tips from your profile –– tap the “Edit profile” button then tap “Tips” to start.
Many people on Twitter include their payment details in their Twitter bio but with this move, they’ll be able to more tightly integrate their payment options into their account. People that want to give money to users will not be limited by Twitter on how much they can spend nor will Twitter take a cut of the money.
The main restriction that Twitter imposes on users is that you must be 18 years old to request, receive, or send tips via Tips or anywhere on its platform. If you do set up Tips on your account, make sure you’re aware of any tax requirements as this income could be subject to things like Income Tax.
