Twitter CFO Anthony Noto accidentally revealed plans to buy a company when tweeting a message meant for DM (Direct Message), and in the process showed us how easy it is to make the mistake. Although the tweet was removed rather quickly, a sharp eyed Twitter user managed to snap an image of it before it was deleted and shared it again on Twitter.

Speculation about which company the the social media giant might be looking to snap up ensued; Re/Code, for instance, managed to narrow down prospective contenders to Shots, Storehouse, Secret, Prismatic, Drawbridge and Shopular.

We will find out soon enough, provided a deal can be reached. If the company that is being discussed in the tweet is already aware of interest from Twitter, it might now have confirmation of sorts through an unusual channel to say the least.
