After its launch in 2015 alongside the debut of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, Apple"s Live Photos feature has only gained support from a few platforms including Facebook and web apps. While that translates to a fairly wide availability of the iPhone camera feature, native support on various social networking sites has been limited.
For its part, Twitter might be working on addressing that limitation, if the code found by social media researcher Matt Navarra in its iOS app is any indication. It contains a string that suggests Twitter may be adding support for converting Live Photos to GIF.
This could mean that when uploading Live Photos to Twitter, users will no longer need to go through the tedious process of manually converting the image to a “Loop” or a “Bounce” from within the Photos app on iOS, as is currently the case. Native support for Live Photos on Twitter means there will be a straightforward way of sharing those images on the platform, where they will automatically transform into GIF.
It"s hard to tell for now whether the feature will make it to a publicrelease, as Twitter remains silent about it. But given that it"s being tested, that possibility can"t be ruled out.
