Are you a Twitter power user? Do you use the service to post 10 or more messages a day? If that"s true, then you also know that Twitter only allows people to access their first few thousand posts made on the social networking service.
That may change soon, at least according to the company"s CEO Dick Costolo. The New York Times reports that according to him, "We’re working on a tool to let users export all of their tweets. You’ll be able to download a file of them."
That will certainly be good news for heavy Twitter users, along with people who just want to go back and see what they posted about a few years ago, when Twitter started becoming more and more popular.
There"s no word on when this new feature will be introduced. However, Costolo did say that the company would not offer a similar way to search through every one of Twitter"s older posts, saying, "It’s two different search problems. It’s a different way of architecting search, going through all tweets of all time. You can’t just put three engineers on it."
Twitter currently has 140 million active users so we suspect that when this post archive download feature is released there will be quite a demand for it.
