A few weeks ago, it emerged that Twitter was testing out some changes to its Android app. Today, those changes have gone live, as the company has formally announced the new version of its app.
The app features a simplified tab bar at the top of the screen, and offers users the ability to swipe between each of the main sections:
- Home / Timeline
- Moments
- Notifications
- Direct Messages
You can also swipe in from the left edge of the display to open an additional menu to gain access to further areas, such as your profile, Twitter Highlights, Settings, and the Connect section, which helps users to discover trending topics and new people to follow.
The "new tweet" button is now a "floating action button" that hovers over the content that"s shown on screen.
Twitter says that the new version of its app is rolling out worldwide today.
