Twitter working on a new bookmarking feature for tweets

Even though many of us use Twitter mainly to get a snapshot of what is happening in our respective social bubbles; thanks to the possibly soon-to-be-longer 140 character limit, sometimes you might just not have enough time to read through or check out that link someone shared in your timeline. During its recent Hack Week, Twitter Product Manager Jessica Shah shared some interesting news that could be a pretty decent time-saver.

According to Shah, who shared the news on Twitter today, the company is reportedly working on a new "Save for Later" feature which could be introduced at a later stage. Besides the addition of the bookmarking feature, the general layout will also be shuffled, changing the way tweets are presented. As revealed, the traditional "send via DM" will be deprecated, and replaced with an overflow menu that reveals the aforementioned feature, and the new "Add to Bookmark" option.

Only in prototype form currently, Shah showed the feature in action on her personal account:

For Hack Week @Twitter we started developing #SaveForLater. Here’s the early prototype that we put together in a week, which is likely to change. pic.twitter.com/c5LekvVF3l

Twitter revealed last month that it was testing a new rule that increased the character limit of tweets from the current 140 limit to 280, although since then it has blocked users from making use of the feature, which until recently worked on TweetDeck. The company officially rolled out a new "Night Mode" for its website as well, something that users of its mobile apps have been accustomed to for some time.
