Uber is going to launch Uber Pro for drivers in the UK according to a report by Reuters. The firm announced in August that it had made the loyalty programme available to all drivers in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. Soon, drivers in the UK will be able to enjoy the perks that Uber Pro brings, including discounted car maintenance and free education courses.
With Uber Pro, drivers will be able to earn points for each of the journeys they make, additionally, by offering a good service, drivers can earn better rewards. The rankings begin at blue then gold, platinum, and diamond. Rewards offered on Uber Pro include free education courses to help you gain new skills, discounted MOTs and car maintenance, and 24/7 roadside assistance – all nice perks if you can get them.
The news comes just days after Transport for London extended Uber’s private hire operator license in London. TfL kept the conditions of the existing license mostly the same but added a few extra conditions to further ensure safety. One of the conditions is that it reports any suspected criminal activity reported by passengers directly to the Met Police. By rolling out Uber Pro, drivers may feel more incentivised to improve their behaviour, generally, to save money on things like vehicle maintenance.
If you drive for Uber in the UK, you might not be eligible for Uber Pro right away. The firm is planning to roll out the service to its 60,000 UK drivers in a phased roll out which is expected to be completed in January.
