Ubisoft hints on some information that Ghost Recon 2 will release on console and PC. A statement from the publisher confirming PS2 and Xbox versions for "Holiday 2004" and the PC version for "early 2005". It"s all "in order to once again deliver ground-breaking innovation to the PC audience." Apparently "more exciting details" backing up these words are to follow.
The PS2 version of Ghost Recon 2 is expected to be built from scratch by Ubisoft"s Shanghai studio which is responsible for Splinter Cell on PS2. GR2 on PS2 is set four years prior to events in the Xbox (and PC) iteration and as such "acts as a prequel" to the latter version.
GR2 on PS2 is being built on the Unreal technology rather that Red Storm"s proprietary Ghost Recon engine and will incorporate Havok physics. It will also feature "completely unique special effects, cinematic sequences, supporting characters, and online modes", says Ubisoft.
A GameCube version of Ghost Recon 2 is still expected, although no mention of this was made in the press statement.
