A few weeks ago, Ubisoft revamped its UPlay PC game download service, making it more like Valve"s Steam and EA"s Origin service. At the moment, however, the only games that you can get from UPlay are published by Ubisoft.
That could change in the future, according to a new interview. MCV reports that, according to a statement from Stephanie Perotti of Ubisoft, "We remain open to opportunities. Right now, we’re starting the service with our own games, but as we go forward, we plan to potentially add other titles."
That could mean that Ubisoft could be thinging about competing directly with Steam, which already has a number of Ubisoft titles in its extensive PC game library. EA, which launched its Origin service in 2011, later added games from a number of other third party publishers to purchase and download.
Perotti also said that they are not done yet with adding new features to UPlay, saying, "The plan for UPlay goes beyond digital distribution. We continue to evolve the service across all platforms, including PC, console and mobile. The more Ubisoft games you play, the more rewards you can get, as well as several online services that players would expect."
