With only days to go before its E3 presentation, Ubisoft today officially announced the new name of the next Rainbow Six game to be Extraction. It was two years ago that the company unveiled the sci-fi cooperative game, but back then, it was going by the name Rainbow Six Quarantine. A couple of delays later, we now have a new name.
The game revolves around fighting back an unknown, intelligent parasite using the tried-and-true operators from Rainbow Six Siege. Instead of running practice drills against each other like in Siege, the operators will now be going headfirst against this new threat.
The game has grown a lot since its original unveiling according to the primary development team at Ubisoft Montreal. “We took the strong foundations of Rainbow Six Siege and crafted a modern, tactical co-op shooter where you’ll be facing an always evolving alien threat," creative director Patrick Methé says.
Until now, Ubisoft has stayed mostly silent regarding the game except for the delay announcements that happened in 2019 and 2020.
Rainbow Six Extraction is one of the games Ubisoft will be unveiling fully with a gameplay trailer and a deep dive during its Forward presentation at E3. The showcase kicks off at 12pm PDT on June 12.
