Since the release of Assassin"s Creed"s 10th installment, Origins, in 2017, the series has become a massive open-world-touting RPG experience. Since then, Assassin"s Creed Odyssey and Valhalla have both followed the same formula. However, this may change when the next game hits the market.
According to a new report by Bloomberg"s Jason Schreier, and corroborated by Eurogamer, a project that was originally set to be a major expansion to Assassin"s Creed Valhalla, much like Dawn of Ragnarök, is now being spun up to be a full-blown standalone experience. Codenamed Rift, this is coming to fill a thin spot in Ubisoft"s upcoming release schedule, per the sources.
Sources close to the project have revealed that the game will put players into the shoes of Basim, a fan-favorite character from Valhalla. It will reportedly explore his journey before the events of the Viking game.
Instead of the standard open world action gameplay, Rift is set to offer a stealth orientated angle for players to journey into, the report continues. No official information about this project has been revealed yet by Ubisoft, so we don"t have a release window either. If an announcement is planned, expect it to drop during E3 week later this year alongside other Ubisoft reveals.
