Ubisoft had a few interesting announcements to share during its E3 event today, and one of them was a brand-new free-to-play sports game called Roller Champions. The look and feel of the title seem to be heavily inspired by Psyonix"s Rocket League, letting up to three players play together in teams of two.
Rather than using cars, the protagonists of Roller Champions are humans riding rollerblades, but the concept is very similar to that of Psyonix"s game. Players have to move around the floor and walls of an oval arena, bisected by a large wall in the middle, driving the ball to the opposing team"s goal. Meanwhile, the defending team can tackle its opponents to get the ball back and get its own chance at attacking.
The biggest difference to Rocket League is that Roller Champions is free of charge, so at least it should be easy to give it a go without much in the way of regrets. If you still want to try it ahead of the official release, though, Ubisoft also announced a free PC demo for Uplay that"s available to download right now from the official website. It will be playable through June 14.
The game officially releases in early 2020, and though Ubisoft says it is a PC exclusive title, earlier leaks suggested it will be on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in addition to PC.
