After revealing the latest entry to the Assassin"s Creed franchise yesterday, Ubisoft today put the game"s exotic location in the spotlight with a new trailer at its E3 event.
Inspired by popular games in the genre like Skyrim and The Witcher 3, the developers of the game have added a number of new RPG mechanics that the company hopes will rejuvenate its stealthy staple. These new changes bring a level of flexibility, choice and realism that previous games may have lacked. For example, NPCs will now have individual day/night cycles, altering between different tasks and locations based on the time of day.
In terms of the player character, the game will feature a revamped and much more expansive skill tree for an experience reminiscent of old school RPGs. Named Ba Yek, the player is an Ancient Egyptian during the reign of Cleopatra and is one of the Assassin Brotherhood in the infancy of the organisation, a large part of the focus in the game"s story. You also get your own reconnaissance tool in the form of an eagle named Senu, inspired by a similar feature in Far Cry Primal.
Origins will also give players a massive open world to explore, possibly ranging from the Mediterranean to a number of Ancient Egyptian metropolises, and the option of traveling between them via horses and even ships.
The game will be available later this year on October 27.
