Today, Ubisoft has come out with a brand new announcement, and it"s not about an upcoming game. Instead, the company has a new logo, replacing its iconic blue swirl logo that has appeared in quite a number of franchises by the French behemoth. The logo, seen above, isn"t straying far from the old one, just shedding its colors and being much more minimalistic.
The announcement blog post sends us on a stroll down memory lane, with Ubisoft showcasing all the previous logos it has passed through, neatly exhibited in the image below. Up first is the original 1986 logo, formed when the company was a local game distributor, with a recognizably 80s visual design; that was followed by the 1995 logo when rainbows were all the rage, highlighting the studio"s transition from a distributor to a family-orientated content developer.
Next, we have the most recent and recognizable logo, the blue swirl. This logo has been seen in Ubisoft games since 2003, with the company saying it portrayed a "more mature and diversified approach".
The brand new minimalist swirl logo is the last one seen in the image lineup. The new logo is described quite colorfully by the company as "a window into [its] worlds, giving a preview of what’s to come by highlighting the artistry that goes into creating them".
"The swirl and the letter O are both deliberately created to be reminiscent of hand-drawn shapes and represent our human qualities of enthusiasm, curiosity and the grain de folie that Ubisoft is known for," the blog post adds.
It seems all future games by the company, including the recently revealed Far Cry 5, as well as other upcoming titles such as The Crew and the new Assassin"s Creed entry will use the new logo. And with E3 arriving in just two weeks, we should be able to witness the new logo in action at the Ubisoft presentation.
