While at first looking like a Steep sequel, Ubisoft went onto unveil a brand-new IP today during its Forward presentation as its final showcase, Riders Republic. The extreme sports title will offer massive playgrounds to experience in multiplayer modes that support over 50 players in a single session. Catch the cinematic announcement above and the gameplay preview below.
Described as a "massive multiplayer playground," Riders Republic will offer extreme sports activities that involve bike, ski, snowboard, wingsuit and rocket wingsuit formats. Both team-based and free for all game modes will be available, from all-out races with over 50 players to six versus six matchups for smaller squads.
Various American national parks are being implemented into the game as free roam-enabled multiplayer playgrounds, including Bryce Canyon, Yosemite Valley, and Mammoth Mountain, with every region somehow connecting to each other. Players will be able to make unique characters and customize them however they wish, as evident from the trailers, as they progress through their extreme sports career.
Riders Republic will be releasing on February 25, 2021 across PC (Uplay and Epic Games Store), Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Stadia as well as Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. Ubisoft promises that on the next-gen platforms, the game will be playable at 60FPS while over 50 players are visible on screen.
