Every month Xbox Live subscribers get to download and play a couple of select titles for free, through Microsoft’s Games with Gold program. Now that we’re halfway through June, the roster of games has changed.
As of today those on Xbox Live can download Ubisoft’s The Crew and XCOM: Enemy Unknown. The latter of the two is the Xbox 360 version, but it’s also available for the Xbox One through backwards compatibility.
The Crew is a racing game that puts a bit of a different spin on the genre thanks to its MMO approach and the huge, open world that players can drive through. The game’s official description states:
The Crew is a revolutionary action-driving MMO that connects players online like never before. The Crew takes you and your friends on a wild ride across a massive, open-world recreation of the United States that is richly detailed and loaded with endless challenges. Generous in content and tailored for the connected generation, The Crew is the next-gen game that redefines action-driving.
Meanwhile XCOM needs no introduction and is considered by many to be a genre-defining title. The turn-based, alien-hunting, strategy-isometric-shoot-em’up-Sci-Fi-RPG will test your strategies, your patience and your luck as you try to fight against an alien invasion. Here’s the official description:
Threatened by an unknown enemy, the Earth’s governments unite to form a secret paramilitary organization, known as XCOM, to combat this extraterrestrial attack. As the commander of XCOM, you control the global defense team in a battle against a terrifying alien invasion. Control the fate of the human race by creating and managing a fully operational base, researching alien technologies, planning combat missions, and controlling soldier movement in battle.
The Crew is available starting today until the 15th of July, while XCOM is only available until the end of the month. On top of these two titles, Xbox One Gold subscribers can also get Goat Simulator for free, until the end of the month.
