The payroll service, Bitwage, has launched in the UK meaning that workers anywhere in the world now have the ability to receive wages, in bitcoin, from companies in the UK through local banking partners. According to Bitwage, workers can receive wages through Faster Payments, BACS, CHAPS, or SWIFT into local UK GBP bank accounts.
In a blog post on the Bitwage website, the announcement reads:
“For workers in the UK, this now means you are able to have more diversity in how you would like to receive your wages. You can split your wages at any percentage between many different bank accounts and digital wallets.”
The UK launch follows the company’s launch in the EU. It has moved half of its team to France following the launch on the continent, and has been awarded a grant by the French government as winners of the French Tech Ticket. As part of the EU launch, the firm announced the ability to offer unique European Union IBAN numbers to workers anywhere in the world receiving wages from EU companies, helping to automate its EU services and delivery of wages to workers more quickly in EU countries.
The move is just one indicator that third parties are building services by which to make bitcoin adoption among the public more feasible.
