So far, Microsoft has said that its newly revealed Surface tablet will be sold on its Microsoft Store website and in its retail Microsoft Store locations. So far, it has yet to say what other retailers might be selling the Surface. However, that isn"t stopping one UK retailer from expressing their opinions on the Surface.
WPCentral.com reports it received an email from Carphone Warehouse on the subject of the Microsoft Surface. The email, from Graham Stapleton, its Chief Commercial Officer, stated:
Microsoft’s first foray into producing both tablet hardware and software is an exciting addition to the market, which has been relatively quiet over the last few months. Today’s news is really going to shake things up. Microsoft’s Surface is going to appeal beyond the existing tablet community and draw in new tablet users, especially with the new Windows 8 software. Microsoft Office functionality and the dual-purpose cover keyboard should go down well with professionals who may have been put off by touch screen keyboards in the past.
Carphone Warehouse has 800 store locations in the UK. However, the story notes that the retailer also sells a lot of notebooks and tablets. Stapleton says that the Microsoft Surface reveal could "trigger a new tablet race" and added that Microsoft has set the bar high for other tablet makers using Windows 8 to follow.
