Yesterday, OPPO announced its latest family of flagship smartphones, the Find X2 series, comprised of the Find X2 and Find X2 Pro. The smartphones come with Qualcomm"s latest premium chipset, the Snapdragon 865, which means it supports 5G, but only in the sub-6GHz spectrum. That should be good enough for most countries, but in the United States, you won"t be able to use it with mmWave networks like Verizon"s 5G. Additionally, it has 12GB of RAM, and in the case of the Find X2 Pro, 512GB of storage.
The two big things that stand out about this phone are the display and the camera. At 6.7 inches, the display on the Find X2 Pro has a QHD+ resolution (3168x1440), and it can support that resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate if you really want to. It covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, it has a color accuracy of 0.8 JNCD out of the box, and a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio, so it promises to be a really good display.
The camera setup is also a big deal for the Find X2 Pro. There two 48MP sensors on this phone. The main camera uses a customized Sony IMX689 sensor, which has a bigger single-pixel size than the IMX586 we"ve seen in other phones, which should mean better light capture. It also supports features like OIS, all-pixel omnidirectional PDAF, dual native ISO, and OPPO"s Ultra Night Mode 3.0. Then there"s another 48MP camera, this one with the IMX586 sensor, which is behind the ultra-wide-angle lens. And finally, a 13MP periscope telephoto lens promises 10x hybrid zoom and 60x digital zoom, all with support for OIS and OPPO"s Ultra Night Mode.
That all seems pretty compelling, and that"s what you"d expect for a phone costing €1200. While we"ll have to test it further to see just how good it is, you can see our first impressions in the video below.
