Every year, Dell"s XPS 15 is one of my favorite laptops. Coming in at around four pounds, it always has a 45W H-series Intel CPU, along with dedicated graphics. It"s a fantastic balance between power and portability.
This year"s model is no different. The chassis is the same, with the only physical difference being that the webcam is finally above the display. This was an innovation of this year"s XPS 13, with Dell shrinking down the webcam enough so that it can fit on top without sacrificing its narrow bezels. Now, it"s making its way to the entire XPS lineup, which was infamous for putting the camera below the screen.
One of the key new features is that it"s now offered with a 4K OLED display, and it"s stunning. With OLED, you get true blacks since pixels can be turned off. You don"t have a backlight like you do with a regular LCD, so the colors look more vibrant too.
And of course, you get the generational improvements that you"d expect. It now comes with ninth-generation Intel H-series processors, and this one has a Core i9-9980HK, the top of the lineup. For graphics, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 replaces last year"s GTX 1050 Ti.
